Our individual culture plays a key role in how we show up in our work and relationships. When we understand the influence culture has in our lives, and the lives of others, we gain valuable insight for change. Using the Individual Cultural Blueprint Indicator as a framework, we will help you grow in self-awareness about your personal culture, increase cultural intelligence regarding others, and gain objective tools to help you leverage your personal cultural blueprint in your professional and personal life.

Factors like globalization, remote work and competing values make leading teams challenging today. Conflicts and misunderstandings are common. Self-awareness is a fundamental first step for change. My Story

I used to think the term “culture” applied mostly to entities like companies and countries. It was only when I relocated to Portugal as a young professional that I realized I too had an individual culture formed from my singular background and experiences. Like my own blueprint, it influenced everything I did, thought, believed. It was like a grid I looked through. I couldn’t see it, but others could.

 This lack of self-awareness limited my cultural sensitivity to those with whom I worked, often leading to conflict. With greater cultural intelligence (CQ), these misunderstandings might have been avoided or at least handled with more humility and empathy.

With the help of caring friends, I stumbled through learning Portuguese, integrated into the culture, raised a family and ran a business. Looking back, however, I wish I would have been better prepared to embrace the richness of diversity rather than unconsciously resisting it. 

As a Human Capital professional, cultural consultant and coach, my past struggle has turned into a passion.

As companies surge forward in an effort to create inclusive environments, key factors like curiosity, cultural sensitivity and self-awareness are often unaddressed. I believe growth in cultural intelligence cultivates the soil for diversity to thrive. It allows employees to feel seen, heard and valued.
